The Australian Christian Lobby’s Martyn Iles says individuals need to be protected from discipline in the workplace or losing their job over a “non-vilifying statement of belief”.
It comes as religious discrimination legislation is set to be introduced into New South Wales.
Mr Iles says he wants the legislation to provide “something I can point at” to say “this is something that’s going to protect you from cancel culture”.
“The one thing in the bill that really makes that offering to ordinary folks … is the thing that’s under attack,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“Which is the protection in workplaces from effectively getting fired or disciplined for expressing your faith.”
