Sky News host Paul Murray says the nation has “sadly” lost two members of the Australian Defence Force after an accident at a base in Queensland on Monday.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton said troops are involved in “very dangerous” work even during training exercises and the movement of equipment “up and down our national highway”.

"Our condolences and thoughts are with their friends and their family,” Mr Dutton said.
