Fairfield MP ‘No consultation whatsoever’ regarding testing mandate

almost 3 years in news

Member for Fairfield Guy Zangari says there was “no consultation whatsoever” from the New South Wales government which made it mandatory for essential workers from the area to be tested every three days, leading to chaos at testing sites.

Mr Zangari said the government “just put this in place” and only responded to his concerns 24 hours after he requested more support.

“No consultation with the people on the ground and the people that I represent,” he told Sky News host Alan Jones.

He said some of the testing hubs are poorly designed and "traffic has been horrendous”, with people lining up for hours to get tested.

"They’ve put these testing facilities in place where you actually can’t get into them because for some of them there’s one road in and one road out.

"Imagine being on the Cumberland Highway and waiting for hours with a big semi-trailer coming past you. It’s insane."
