The UK government's Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick pointed to another milestone on the long road out of the pandemic yesterday when he suggested the legal requirement to wear face masks in certain situations will end in England on July 19. In Scotland there may be a period during which face coverings are required while south of the Border they are a matter of "personal responsibility", but the direction of travel is clear: we are returning to something resembling "normality". It feels like we are halfway there already as fans return to sporting events and overseas holiday destinations slowly begin to open up.
