Frydenberg remains ‘confident’ in New South Wales health system

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has maintained he has “confidence” in the New South Wales health system despite large areas of the state being plunged into a two-week lockdown.

The whole of Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Central Coast, and Wollongong went into lockdown last Saturday at 6pm in a bid to stem the spread of the Delta outbreak.

According to Mr Frydenberg, Australia has been successful in suppressing the virus and there has been “no performance better” than that of the New South Wales government.

“They’ve avoided those state-wide lockdowns even when they’ve had cases, for example, in the Northern Beaches,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“So I have confidence in their health system in New South Wales, that they can get on top of the virus.”
