‘Economic Lunacy’ Melbourne injecting room proposal hits major community push back

about 3 years in news

Prominent Melbourne business figures have joined a push to revoke a proposal for a drug injecting room in the CBD.

Theatre mogul David Marriner joined state and federal MP's and other businesses in criticising the Andrews government proposal.

The proposal for a safe injecting room in the former Yooralla Building in the centre of Melbourne has sparked concerns tourism could fall and crime could increase in the already struggling city.

Victorian Liberal MP Tim Smith told Sky News the idea was "economic lunacy" by the Andrews government.
