One dead and three in custody after Nanaimo shooting

One person is dead from apparent gunshot wounds and three people are in custody after a shooting Thursday afternoon at Rock City Plaza on the north end of Nanaimo.
RCMP seized one vehicle and were searching a local motel for evidence related to the 3:30 p.m. shooting, said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien, adding police do not believe there is any further risk to the public.
Police officers were searching four locations for evidence, he said, including vehicles and properties.
No other information was released.
Rock City Plaza contains about 18 businesses, including fast-food restaurants, a gym, deli and financial advisor’s office.
