Filippo Ganna of Ineos Grenadiers claimed the first Maglia Rosa jersey of the 2021 Giro d’Italia on home soil, winning Saturday’s opening time trial, an 8.6km ride along the Po river.
Time-trial world champion Ganna, who also won the first stage of last year’s Giro, clocked a best time of min 48 sec, ahead of two Jumbo-Visma riders: compatriot Edoardo Affini who was 10 seconds back and Norway’s Tobias Foss, a further two behind. Continue reading...
