Gorse, whins and furze

أكثر من ٤ سنوات فى The Irish Times

Sir, – The letter by Dr John Doherty (April 29th) is interesting. The word “whin” also exists in Norfolk in England, eg Whin Common, Whinburgh.
We too experience the creeping domination of “gorse”, which is routinely used by our national media. – Yours, etc,
RICHARD BENIFER,
Norfolk,
England.
