It was a bumpy road to get there, but this year’s Oscars are officially underway, with some of the past year’s biggest films receiving awards during the 2021 ceremony.
Netflix original film Mank is this year’s top nominee, with 10 nods in total, while Nomadland, The Father, Promising Young Woman and The Trial Of The Chicago 7 are also in contention for some of the top prizes of the night.
We’re pleased to say that there’s a strong showing for British talent this year, with actors Daniel Kaluuya, Carey Mulligan, Riz Ahmed, Gary Oldman and Olivia Colman among the stars whose performances have been recognised at the Academy Awards this year.
Filmmaker Emerald Fennell is also in the running, as director and writer of Promising Young Woman, as is Brit Award winner Celeste, for her contribution to the soundtrack to The Trial Of The Chicago 7.
