Scott Morrison ‘is right’ on the international border issue Paul Murray

Sky News host Paul Murray says Prime Minister Scott Morrison is “right” on the issue of the international border despite the “renewed movement” for global travel.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce recently said there should be “no reason” why the international border remains closed if Australia’s adult population achieves herd immunity against COVID-19.

Scott Morrison, however, made the point that Australians have become “very used” to having zero coronavirus case numbers and community transmission.

“If we were to lift the borders and people were to come, then you would see those cases increase, and Australians would have to become used to dealing with a thousand cases a week or more,” Mr Morrison said on Thursday.

“The truth is, he’s right,” Mr Murray said.

“Should we have got to a mature point where we would be able to handle one, two-hundred cases, yes of course”.

“But literally, we have seen lockdowns in the past six months based off one case, and people love it.”
