Labor goes ‘each way’ on Christine Holgate

about 3 years in news

Sky News host Paul Murray says the Labor Party has gone “each way” when it comes to former Australia Post Chief Executive Christine Holgate.

When Ms Holgate was initially questioned about the Cartier watch scandal, Labor Leader Anthony Albanese questioned how, on the prime minister’s watch and during the coronavirus recession, the Morrison government was taking “no action against the Liberal-appointed Australia Post board”.

Mr Albanese also previously said it was “perfectly reasonable that Christine Holgate resign”.

However today, during the latest Senate hearing, Labor Senator Kim Carr said Ms Holgate had been treated in a “highly discriminatory manner”, stating his belief in the “issue of gender” in the way she was treated “as compared to other people”.

“Each way Labor, not even each-way Albo,” Mr Murray said.
