The world went from a ‘generation of service to sooks’ in one lifetime

about 3 years in news

Sky News host Paul Murray says in the space of one lifetime the world went from a “generation of service to sooks”.

It comes amid the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, aged 99 on Friday, who Mr Murray described as being “at his very heart, about service”.

Mr Murray pointed to a recent Vodafone outage and Instagram going down, and the hysterical reaction from millennials.

He then spoke of Prince Philip’s generation – including the Duke himself – and how they stepped up to face the threat of fascism in the form of the Nazis in Europe and the Imperial Japanese Empire in the Pacific.

“This is the greatest threat that the west ever faced, and the generation of prince Philip they stood up,” Mr Murray said.

“The generation today that we would expect to stand up if a similar threat happened, they’re sooking about Facebook, they’re sooking about Instagram, and they’re sooking about not being able to surf the internet on their mobile phone for just one day.”
