9 more Caricom countries awaiting first Covax vaccines

NINE Caricom countries are yet to receive covid19 vaccines through Covax.
A total of 17 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have received vaccines thus far.
In Central and South America there are Colombia, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, El Salvador and Argentina. Supplies are currently in transit for Uruguay.
In the Caribbean, Jamaica, Suriname, Guyana, the Bahamas, Belize and Trinidad and Tobago received supplies.
This country received 33,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Tuesday evening.
The only countries to receive two tranches of the vaccine thus far are Colombia and El Salvador.
Colombia got 117,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine on March 1 and 244,800 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 20. El Salvador got 33,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 11 and 51,480 on March 22.
The Caricom countries yet to receive Covax vaccines are Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Haiti, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
And 91,200 doses are en route to the Dominican Republic.
To date, 2,580,080 doses of covid19 vaccines have been delivered through Covax.
