Palaszczuk asks PM to reduce returning traveller quotas for Queensland quarantine

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has requested an extension which will allow Queensland’s hotel quarantine system to continue operating at a reduced capacity as the state recovers from the snap lockdown.
“I have written to the prime minister to ask for another further extension to the end of April in terms of reducing our capacity of returned travellers,” she said.
“I'm quite sure that the prime minister will give that due consideration.”
The Sunshine State currently has 82 active cases of COVID-19 in hospital with the vast majority being returned overseas travellers.
Ms Palaszczuk said the high number of active cases in hospital posed a high risk for Queenslanders.
“I think we are the highest state in the country at the moment with the most number of active cases in hospital who are returned travellers from overseas,” she said.
