LOCAL GOVERNMENT Minister Kazim Hosein has sent his condolences to the family and friends of WPC Anisha Sookdeo, who died in a traffic accident on Tuesday afternoon.
In a media release on Tuesday night, Hosein offered condolences on behalf of himself and his ministry to family of the municipal police officer.
He also sent his good wishes to Sookdeo's colleagues Cpl Keith Alexander and WPC Diana Seetaram, who were injured in the accident.
He said, "We will always value the work done by our municipal police officers, they are in a high-risk and high-stress profession, but they still selflessly serve. This is indeed a very sad day for us at the ministry, we have lost a member of our team and I am told that she was recently married not more than a month ago."
Police reports said Sookdeo, Alexander and Seetaram were headed east along the Priority Bus Route when Sookdeo crashed into a maxi near Boys Lane, D'Abadie at around 4.10 pm. The three were heading back to their base at the Arima Borough Corporation.
Sookdeo was married last month, Hosein said, as he offered prayers for her family and loved ones.
