A POLICEWOMAN was among three people charged with trafficking in firearms, a press release from the TTPS has stated.The trio appeared before Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay at the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Friday. The release said Kurl Ann Mc Eachnie, an Acting Inspector from the Police Band was $20,000 bail with a surety while Cindy Gonzales was granted $20,000 bail with a surety or a cash alternative of $5,000 bail. Both were ordered to return to court on April 23.
The third accused, Jabari Miranda was remanded into custody pending a search for any criminal record against his name. All three reside in Arima Old Road, Arima.

The police press release stated that a Bulgarian made Makarov .380 pistol fitted with a magazine and three rounds of .380 ammunition along with a silencer were seized during an anti-crime exercise which took place in the Southern Division between the hours of 4 pm and 12 midnight on Tuesday March 23.

The exercise was co-ordinated by Snr Supt Lucia Winchester, Supt Carty, ASP Ramdass, and Insp Phillip and supervised by Sgts Joseph, Charles and Wilkinson. It included officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Operations Team, the Southern Division Operations/Intelligence Unit and the Southern Division Task Force (SDTF). Police said that following the exercise and seizure of the firearm and ammunition, two women and a man were arrested and charged.
