Four players have been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Burnley defender Kevin Long, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, Swansea City midfielder Conor Hourihane and Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda have all been ruled out.
Blackburn defender Darragh Lenihan has been called up and West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry has been promoted from the Under-21 squad, his first senior international call-up.
With first choice goalkeeper Darren Randolph out, Kelleher’s injury is a significant blow. Stephen Kenny is already without James McCarthy, John Egan and Adam Idah.
The Ireland squad reported for duty in Manchester, England on Sunday with the squad scheduled to train on Monday morning before flying to Belgrade, Serbia ahead of Wednesday’s qualifier.
Ireland take on Luxembourg back in Dublin three days later, as well as Qatar in a friendly which is being staged in Hungary on March 30th because of the restrictions on international travel currently in place between various other countries.
