Relatives say murdered Arouca man was bullied

The relatives of Sidney Villarael say he was the target of attacks by someone in the neighbourhood, though they cannot say why anyone would want him dead.
Villarael, 22, was shot dead by men who claimed to be police at his home at Bon Air North, Windy Hill, Arouca, early on Thursday morning.
At the Forensic Science Centre, St James, on Friday, one of Villarael's relatives
told Newsday while she was shaken by the incident
she was not fearful for her own life.
"He wasn't involved in any robberies and crime.
"I'm not afraid for my own life because if they wanted to harm me they could have done so easily.
"This is also not the first time our home was shot at. They shot at him (Sidney) about two or three years ago, and then they shot his father. I'm still here. So I have to keep the faith."
Another relative said Villarael was bullied by others when he lived elsewhere, and warned him to take the threat of violence seriously.
"He used to just brush it off whenever I brought it up but it was something I took seriously.
"There used to be a fella pressing him. I always used to see the man coming and dipping his hand in Sidney's pocket and taking his stuff. Real bully behaviour."
The relatives said Villarael was a generous, easygoing person who kept to himself.
The Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II is continuing enquiries.
