Who is popular today?

When I last wrote in these columns on concerns in Asia about the US Presidential Elections it was when the results were being questioned and many living in Asian countries could be forgiven for wondering if Western democracies could claim the best and purest form of governance. It is now only a few weeks later and the world has watched in astonishment how the supporters of Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building on 6 January, triggering a second Impeachment trial.
