Rasheed Ali the PNM's candidate for Cunupia in the local government by-elections vowed to cover manholes and deal with abandoned lots with overgrown bushes if he wins
Speaking with reporters outside the Cunupia High School after voting on Monday morning, Ali said he listened to the concerns of residents while campaigning and promised to address their issues once elected.
"When I get into the council I'll familiarise myself with certain things, but the first thing I intend to do is to see about manholes on the pavements and other eyesores and just to clean up the place.
"One of the other concerns raised by residents while I was campaigning were the overgrown bushes and poor drainage and bad roads."
Ali said despite contesting a seat as a PNM candidate in a traditionally UNC area, he was confident of his chances of victory.
