Young brushes off ‘sad desperation’ claim

NATIONAL Security Minister Stuart Young says he is not entertaining Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s allegations about his ministry’s permanent secretary leaving TT for the US last December and returning later the same month.
At a virtual UNC meeting on Monday, Persad-Bissessar claimed the permanent secretary went to the US December 19 and returned on December 30.
On Tuesday, Young said, “Mrs Persad-Bissessar has sadly worked herself into a state of complete irrelevance and has been grasping at straws for a long time now.
“She is the same individual who told the country and by extension the world, that she would build a dome and rely on sunlight as responses to the covid19 pandemic. He concluded, “I will not facilitate her sad desperation to be relevant by responding to her (claim).”
