Police investigate suspicious death of Tofino man

The death of a Tofino man found in a Chesterman Beach Road home is being investigated as suspicious, RCMP said Friday.
On Wednesdsay, Tofino RCMP visited a residence in the 1300-block of Chesterman Beach Road in Tofino after they were called to check on the welfare of an adult male living there.
While in the residence, officers found a dead man.
“Based on observations at the scene, the death was deemed to be suspicious,” said B.C. RCMP senior investigator Insp. Kevin O’Donnell. “This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public.”
On the same day, a person in Nanaimo was taken into custody but was released without a charge.
Anyone who observed suspicious or unusual activity in the 1300-block of Chesterman Beach Road between Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 is asked to contact the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit at 250-380-6211 or Tofino RCMP at 250-725-3242.
