A 32-year-old San Juan PH taxi driver is expected to be charged for the murder of Ashanti Riley by Monday, police said.
The man, who was arrested shortly after 18-year-old Riley’s disappearance on November 29, claimed he was threatened by two other men who were involved in her kidnapping and murder.
Investigators said they were confident the taxi driver would to be charged "sometime over the weekend."
They were given the green light on Thursday by Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC.
Another man who was held was released, but police are searching for a third suspect – a man from San Juan.
Riley's decomposing body was found in a forested part of Cakes Land, La Canoa, Santa Cruz, last week Friday.
An autopsy on Wednesday revealed she died as a result of sharp force wounds to the right chest and lower abdomen and blunt force trauma (from a beating) to the back of the left chest.
