At a masterclass, fellow artists can learn skills from the very best, but for the rank outsider it can offer a valuable insight into the creative mind. And so it proves to be the case as I join a day trip by coach to the NSW central coast where we will visit two fine private gardens and meet the people who have given them life. They are Michael Cooke, who has been designing gardens since 1983, and Jill Hickson Wran, businesswoman and wife of former NSW Labor premier Neville Wran who died in 2014. Michael and Jill share the same passion for plants and know the dedication to hard work.
