Bolivia’s former leader Evo Morales returned to the country on Monday, November 9, nearly a year after election controversy forced him to leave, according to local reports. Reports said Morales spent about a year away from Bolivia after election “irregularities” granted him a fourth term in office. Morales served as president of Bolivia from 2006 to 2019. Morales returned after Luis Arce, a member of Morales’s MAS political party, was sworn in as president of Bolivia. Morales crossed the border of La Quiaca in Argentina to Villazon in Bolivia on Monday morning, reports said. Local media outlet Kawsachun News livestreamed this footage of a crowd waiting to welcome Morales in Villazon. A Kawsachun News correspondent said in the video that the footage also shows Morales walking over the La Quiaca-Villazon border into the crowd. Credit: Kawsachun News via Storyful
