People enjoying a Saturday night out in South London, England, on October 10, and leaving pubs after 10 pm due to a curfew intended to restrict the spread of the coronavirus, were treated to an impromptu game of cricket on the street in Peckham. This video shows the crowd, mostly not wearing masks, cheering on the game. Large crowds were also reported in the city’s Piccadilly Circus. The government has been accused of not thinking through the impact of the curfew, which sees people emerging on to city streets in large crowds. The opposition leader, Labour’s Keir Starmer said the curfew wasn’t working as anticipated in a BBC interview on October 9, but said his party would not vote against the government to end the restrictions.
