Fall weather arrives with wind warning and rain

Most of the south Island’s wind and rain over the weekend will be on the west coast, where a gale warning is expected to be followed by another weather system early next week.
Friday wind speeds were expected to be up to 75 kilometres per hour.
“It is the October pattern,” said Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist. “I think that taste of the last bit of summer we were trying to hang onto is over, at least for the next five days or so.”
There is a 40 per cent chance of rain on Friday night and Saturday in the capital, along with wind Saturday near Juan de Fuca Strait.
Rain is a possibility on Sunday, as well.
Lundquist advised watching for any rain or wind warnings.
“That will all adjust and be fluid.”
