SASKATOON — Saskatchewan New Democrats are promising to hire 700 more home care workers if elected.
The provincial vote is set for Oct. 26.
Leader Ryan Meili says he would boost the number of workers who provide medical, cleaning and other help that seniors need to live independently in their homes.
The NDP says it could hire the 700 additional staff for $50 million.
Meili says he's heard from home care workers who are frustrated because of high workloads and staff turnover.
He accused the Saskatchewan Party government of hurting seniors by cutting supports for hearing aids and the seniors drug plan, and by selling low-income seniors housing units.
