With just over a day before deadline, no parties have candidates listed for all B.C. ridings

The B.C. Green Party announced several new candidates Wednesday, including five in the capital region.
They include Andy MacKinnon in Esquimalt-Metchosin, Nicole Duncan in Oak Bay-Gordon Head, Kate O’Connor in Saanich South, Jenn Neilson in Victoria-Beacon Hill and Annemieke Holtuis in Victoria-Swan Lake.
Leader Sonia Furstenau has said the Greens are aiming to have a candidate in each of B.C.’s 87 ridings for the Oct. 24 election, but may fall short. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 44 candidates listed on the party’s website, including Chris Istace in Nanaimo-North Cowichan.
Furstenau is running for re-election in Cowichan Valley, while Adam Olsen is running for re-election in Saanich North and the Islands.
The B.C. Liberals had 73 candidates listed on its website on Wednesday, including 10 in Island ridings:

The NDP had candidates in 74 ridings. The party’s Island candidates are:

Rob Fleming in Victoria-Swan Lake
Horgan called an early election last week, more than one year ahead of the fixed October 2021 date.
The nomination deadline is 1 p.m. Friday.
