Fire crews worked to contain the Chehalem Mountain Fire, which had burned more than 2,000 acres and was 50 percent contained by September 9. Fire officials issued several evacuation orders, including a level-three evacuation order for approximately 150 residents as the fire threatened multiple structures west of Sherwood and north of Newberg. According to local media, a level-three evacuation means “danger to your area is current or imminent, and you should evacuate immediately.” This video from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue shows firefighters advancing hoselines to extinguish the edges of the fire and protect structures during night operations, they said.
