When is speech over the line? John Stuart Mill gave us a good answer

over 5 years in NY Daily

Each day brings to light a fresh case concerning what limits our freedom of expression. Trader Joe’s resisted pressure to change the name of its products “Trader Jose” and “Trader Ming.” Four years after San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem, San Francisco pitcher Sam Coonrod didn’t kneel with his teammates during a moment of unity on Opening Day. People erupt in anger at having to wear masks in stores. Would Vice President Mike Pence defend them? No doubt. He defended being unmasked at President Trump’s Tulsa rally and in a Texas church, reasoning that expression in those settings was “guaranteed free speech and peaceable assembly” under the First Amendment. Trump also defended citizens’ rights to be unmasked when he called for “liberating” Michigan and Minnesota.
