New York, at long last, has unveiled its first statues in Central Park of women pioneers in the persons of Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Coming the week the United States celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage, it is important to remember that the so-called era of equality it was supposed to usher in was then, and remains today, incomplete.
