The Central Saanich Fire Department used a special device to give oxygen to a small dog after it was rescued from a fire Friday morning.
“He appeared to be OK when we had him,” said Capt. Brennan Gummer.
The fire department was called about 11:50 a.m for a fire in a modular home on Sloping Pine, near Mount Newton Cross Road and the Patricia Bay Highway.
“There was two cats that made it out, as well,” Gummer said. “The homeowners were not in the residence when we arrived.”
Gummer said there was “significant” damage to the roof and the structure.
Fire investigators arrived late in the afternoon and crew remained at the scene checking for hot spots.
