Canadian real estate company Brookfield Residential suffers data breach by new ransomware group DarkSide

DarkSide’s website states it has downloaded data — including HR, finance and payroll — from Brookfield.com, and says the data is poised to be published if the company does not pay. A spokesperson for parent company Brookfield Asset Management said its network has not been affected but rather subsidiary Brookfield Residential is the target.
