Fire and animal control officials in Ashland, Massachusetts, rescued a young deer stuck deep in a drainage pipe on Monday, August 17. Animal Control Officer Dona Walsh and Lieutenant David Iarussi of the Ashland Fire Department’s Engine 1 worked together to successfully retrieve the fawn from a drainpipe on Main Street in Ashland, officials said. The fire department shared a video of the rescue on their Facebook page, noting that Iarussi used a six-foot hook to carefully slide the fawn out of the drainpipe. The fawn had been seen locally in previous days, according to the Ashland Fire Department. Officials confirmed that the fawn was removed without injury and was transported to the Animal Control kennel for “nourishment” and a health assessment. Credit: Ashland Fire Department via Storyful
