Irish Politician Falls Asleep During Vote on Lower Paid Workers

The leader of Ireland’s Green Party had to be woken up to cast his vote during a motion on lower paid jobs and employment rights on July 16. Footage from the Irish parliament, which was sitting in Dublin’s Convention Center to allow for social distancing, shows Eamon Ryan being awoken by colleagues as his name was called to cast a vote. Ryan, who serves as Minister for Transport in Ireland’s recently formed government, is being challenged for the Green Party leadership by deputy leader Catherine Martin.
