New South Wales Deputy Premier John Barilaro has defended his conduct during the Eden-Monaro by-election after Labor clinched the marginally held seat.
Mr Barilaro has been partially blamed for the Liberal Party's loss after he reportedly asked National supporters to preference Labor before Liberal candidate Fiona Kotvojs – a claim he strongly rejects.
The NSW Nationals leader said the Liberals needed to take responsibility for the defeat, adding “this is the blame game by Liberals who are gutless and can’t put their name to it”.
Mr Barilaro also told Sky News he had not ruled out running for the seat at the next Federal Election.
