Sky News host Alan Jones says Australia has been afflicted from day one of the coronavirus pandemic by a “dreadful sense of alarmism”.

Mr Jones referenced the World Health Organisation’s characterization of total coronavirus cases, in which the major global body said 99 per cent of COVID-19 cases around the world are mild.

He said it is incumbent upon the state and federal health authorities to properly explain how many people have died as a result of the coronavirus in the past month, as well as the severity of each of the cases.

“We’ve got to stop this alarmism because it’s affecting people psychologically, emotionally, and financially,” Mr Jones told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
