“The Queensland government has changed the electoral system” to ensure all parties but Labor will be “severely disadvantaged” in the next election, according to Sky News host Paul Murray.

It was “celebrated” by the media today as “game-changing legislation,” he said.

Under the new Qld election rules a party candidate cannot spend over $57,000, an independent cannot spend over $87,000, parties can spend $92,000 per seat and unions or third parties can spend $87,000 per seat.

“Under the guise of keeping Clive Palmer out,” the ALP have given union’s a hefty $1.7 million spending budget per seat while essentially limiting the spending of the LNP, Nationals and other groups with no union connections, to $149,000, Mr Murray said.
