Protesters marched on the Georgia State Capitol building in Atlanta on Monday, June 15, against police violence and to demand racial justice. Local reports said the Georgia Alliance for Social Justice and the Georgia NAACP organized marches to the capitol on Monday. June 15 was the Georgia General Assembly’s first day resuming its 2020 session, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to reports. Rep Beth Moore said the protesters outside the building could be heard inside the house chamber. Videos filmed by Rep Brenda Lopez, who marched with protesters, show people in the streets and outside the capitol building. “Check out the beautiful people that are waiting in this line to get into their capitol. We’re going to make sure that we welcome them and know that this is their capitol,” said Lopez in one video. Credit: Brenda Lopez via Storyful
