Canberra operating theatres in short supply due to ‘Labor’s bad planning’

Adoni Media Managing Director Leisa Goddard says the necessary action has not been taken by the Labor government in the ACT to alleviate a predicted shortage in hospital theatres, which could leave “frustrated” doctors in the lurch.

The Canberra times is reporting “senior Canberra Hospital doctors fear the government’s half-a-billion dollar expansion will not have enough operating theatres to service a rapidly growing region”.

In 2019 surgeons allegedly warned the Health Minister of the real possibility parts of the project could be stretched to capacity by the time it opens.

Ms Goddard said "if the government is failing to provide a hospital system which at the very least is capable “of keeping up with demand, then there is something very wrong with the planning process".
