Organisers of Black Lives Matter protests around Australia have been labelled selfish, irresponsible and even reckless and according to Sky News host Chris Smith “they deserved every bit of it”.

Over the weekend thousands of people attended Black Lives Matter protests in Australian capital cities despite social distancing bans being largely still implemented and businesses heavily impacted by the government-imposed restrictions.

Mr Smith said many Australians, and especially older Australians “have been spooked” but the deadly coronavirus in the country.

But despite this, Black Lives Matter organisers still “pressed 'go' on massive gatherings” regardless of the health risk warnings of doing so.

Mr Smith said “I think our leaders went soft” on the whole issue.

“It was only one state, NSW, that went to court to outlaw the gathering”.
