The view from across the ocean Why the UK is taking part in anti police brutality protests, too

I teach a course on riots, protests and the law, which looks across history for the patterns of protest that shape our societies. One constant is that most people believe in the idea of social justice, and expect our rulers to maintain social control without breaking the social contract by putting them at risk of harm. When people are harmed by those sworn to serve and protect, the collective urge to mobilize and protest in public becomes manifest.
