Spiked Online Editor Brendan O’Neill says a type of “pathological hypocrisy” has been revealed by the recent Black Lives Matter protest in the United Kingdom.

For the past week the media has targeted and “shamed” Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Chief Advisor Dominic Cummings for allegedly breaking lockdown when he travelled to the north of England with his family.

“Now the same media is cheering on these Black Lives Matter protests where hundreds and thousands of people have rubbed shoulders and breathed on each other and broken the lockdown rules,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“The double standard is almost incomprehensible”.

Mr O’Neill said fundamentally the protests are about the Left “signalling that their views and their lives are more important than ours”.

Mr Kenny said the whole situation shows “hypocrisy crosses borders just as easily as pathogens”.
