Foodbank Australia demand to spike in September, October

Chief Operating Officer of Foodbank NSW and ACT John Robertson says demand has surged by 50 per cent following the first two weeks of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Mr Robertson told Sky News Foodbank's demand has now "plateaued off" because of "JobKeeper and JobSeeker being so high".

“We are preparing come September, October when that gets wound back, as it in evidently will, that we are going to see demand increase massively because the jobs aren’t coming back as quickly as they are going to wind back both those payments," he said.

“That’s going to test us again, so we are spending this time planning and preparing to make sure we are ready to go.”
