Israel’s longest serving leader Benjamin Netanyahu has appeared in court for first day of his corruption trial. The Israeli prime minister was sworn in for his fifth term last week after being indicted in November for bribery and fraud. Thousands of Israelis have taken part of protests for and against the trial, with Mr Netanyahu pleading his innocence with the public before entering the court room. The hearing lasted one hour and will resume in July.
