A line spanning several blocks formed along the boardwalk in Jersey Shore’s Belmar on May 16 as would-be beachgoers waited to buy seasonal access badges ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. Belmar beaches require badges for admission from Memorial Day weekend. The crowd of people – most of whom were maintaining social distancing – can be seen in this video taken along the boardwalk. Local media reported that Gov Phil Murphy recently announced all beaches would be open in time for the holiday weekend following the earlier introduction of restrictions to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
