Pubs under pressure to reopen in ‘COVIDsafe manner’

AHA Director of Liquor and Policing John Green says patrons should expect pubs to be changing the way their business form to "demonstrate that we can operate in a COVIDsafe manner and hopefully that will lead to further relaxation".

Pubs and clubs in NSW will be allowed to receive up to 10 patrons at a time from Friday under stage one of the government's plan to lift restrictions.

Mr Green told Sky News many venues would likely hold off reopening until stages two and three were implemented where they would be allowed to serve a greater number of people.

He said the AHA would be presenting businesses with strategic reopening models, which Premier Gladys Berejiklian had appointed a taskforce to consider.

“We need to as staff, as licensees, and as patrons we need to get this right,” he said.
