Footage Reveals First Glimpse of UK’s COVID 19 Contact Tracing App

about 4 years in heraldsun

Video released by local UK news source OnTheWight on May 6 has offered up a first look at a contact tracing app designed for the National Health Service to stop the spread of COVID-19. The NHSX Coronavirus Contact Tracing App, which will be distributed to the wider public on the Isle of Wight on Thursday, May 7, demonstrates what Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock described as a “ground-breaking technology,” according to Digital Health. Users of the app can voluntarily enter potential symptoms they may have, and these symptoms can then be transmitted anonymously to other devices via Bluetooth, potentially alerting people nearby to coronavirus cases and increasing social distancing. The app, currently only available to NHS and Isle of Wight council workers, is eventually intended for all residents of the UK. Credit: onthewight.com via Storyful
